Umm…yeah. GREAT weekend! Got to play all weekend with one of my closest friends. I got a Killing Floor server up and running too :-)

Posting for the sake of posting. Inside Biotechnology & Med Research classroom….Google Chat actually works in here :-)

Not able to be on computer during this time though…just right now since teacher is out and sub doesn’t mind me on computer. Can’t post much…I need to upload photos or something to photobucket first then link here (files are too big, etc). But yeah… :-P

Been having a hard time motivating myself to post here. Well…pretty much to do anything other than lie in bed all day. Too many issues coming up at once has really made this year a horrible experience for me. I’ve gotten to the point where I regret fixing my gaming rig last August, and for even picking up TF2 on the Xbox360. I also regret selling that gaming console…but hindsight is always 20/20.

I’ve applied at University of North Florida solely because my counselor told me to. I’m glad they do have a program for Bachelor’s in Computer Science, so I’m hoping I may get accepted.

Started playing Left 4 Dead 2 yesterday, and really do enjoy taking my anger out on the zombies. Got called out last night by a =SoB= reg because I was venting frustration on the server by playing Medic for an unstoppable Heavy in a 4v5 game of control point.

Anyways, as I promised here’s some of the stuff I was working on in computer graphics.

Here’s a lame zombie I doodled in 2 minutes:

Done now…I’ll go lie down or play L4D2 or something.

Sitting in computer graphics class and realised I have two images I made that I haven’t shown…I can’t upload (too big) and can’t get on photobucket to link here….so I guess I’ll have to wait until I get home…. :-(

Well…bad week. :-( But…I installed Ubuntu on my laptop just for laughs.

I’m actually enjoying it a whole lot more than Vista. It’s much faster, and basically does all the things I wanted it to do (it’s not a gaming laptop). It’s got the word processor and chat client I want and I’ve got flash player and GIMP. :-) I decided that instead of naming my laptop VaLyNdrMn like I usually do, I will go with Nicole. So far, everything I had hoped for has worked – webcam, usb drivers, SD card drivers, ear and mic jack drivers, etc – right out of install. The laptop runs hot, but not nearly as hot as it used to be.

Oh…I like cranberry juice…not sure if I ever mentioned that…it’s good :-)

School has been taking up lots of my time :-| Get up at 7:40AM get to school and sit in a chair for 7-8 hours a day. Get home, do homework, hop on computer to check Grepolis and The West – post comments in alliance forums, hop on TF2 for a bit. Then at 8PM I start falling asleep at my desk. Not cool. I can push it to about 10-11PM but usually it’s impossible to keep awake.

I tested Linux Mint 9 last week, and was about 2 minutes from installing either Ubuntu or Debian on my laptop before I shut it off….I don’t know which one to go with – Mint 9, Ubuntu 10.04, or Debian Squeeze. All have been great when I tested them via liveCD  (Debian Squeeze was actually installed on my desktop for a short period of time). I’m thinking I might want to go with something more mainstream for the laptop so I have flash player already installed…I’m still new to Linux and I don’t want to get too over my head. I also want to start from a base like Debian and add things like wireless support and webcam drivers and all that as it would give me some experience with the Terminal (NOT afraid of it). I’ve noticed the commands are similar to my iTouch’s Teminal (yes…I jailbreak when I can) .  Guess I’ll reboot Mint 9 and get  some screen shots for it. From what I remember, I really liked Mint 9. Had internet, flash player was already installed, etc. The only thing I didn’t like was the menu….I’ve noticed it has been a peeve for other people too. It just seems so bulky…Anyways a small-ish review with pics to come.

Yesterday I got my gaming rig fixed. It needed a new MoBo (have an ASUS M4A77D in there now :-) )Since it’s an AM2/AM2+/AM3 socket I’ll be upgrading the CPU to something better – possibly a Quad Core. I’ll get a new case and GPU too.

Case-Cooler Master HAF X

XFX Radeon HD 5770 Video Card – 1GB GDDR5

AMD Phenom II X4 940 Black Edition Quad Core Processor – 3.00GHz

Yeah…school starts Monday. Got everything done for that.

Restarted on Theta. Didn’t like being in the middle of the ocean on a x3 world. I think I might delete the account there since I hate the speed +revolt. Bad world to practice a different form of conquest.

I joined Iota when it came out and was rank 175 before I went to bed. Now I’m rank 410 :-( I’m kicking construction into gear again today in hopes of reaching the top 100. The alliance cap is 60 on this world. Kinda interesting…guess they were trying to make things more “balanced.” We’ll see how it plays out.

On Delta, I lost my first conquest to a farming raid by a  Hun member…I’m not upset, as I got 3 CPs out of it, but I was taken back by how sudden it happened. I need to get my land support + naval support+ CS timed right. Got navy and CS, just not land. Got called back to Black too. I didn’t like leaving Band of Misfits, but…Nate and Supra (Black’s leaders) kept on me until I went back. I guess having more females in an alliance with my friend was also a factor (jealousy).  So…”out of sight, out of mind” as they say. :-)

Started playing Runes of Magic and I think it’s pretty fun. It’s kinda like WoW or EverQuest, but free.  I basically play it all day and the play TF2 at night. :-)

Got my school schedule:

  1. Physics 1
  2. Computer Graphics
  3. English 4 Honours
  4. American Government Honours
  5. Advanced Topics in Math
  6. Portfolio (hopefully will change)
  7. Biotechnology

I’m going to go to the school sometime this week to see if I can’t get out of portfolio. The teacher and I don’t get along (had her before) and I didn’t do the summer assignment because I didn’t know what it was…still don’t. I just know there was one…

Enough for now…going to take a nap or something :-)

Finished both books I needed to read for school which starts in less than 3 weeks. I go in for orientation between 9AM and 11AM this Saturday (the 7th). I’m kinda excited for school to start as it is my last year before college. Need to get my SAT done in October or November. Since I scored a 1610 on the Princeton Practice one (basically the whole 4 hours but it doesn’t count) I’m sure I’ll do okay on the real one. I just need to do good enough to get into FCCJ and later into PCC or ITT at Portland, OR. Information Security Specialist sounds like the job for me…good pay, bright outlook, and it’s working with something I love.

My mother decided it was time for me to get a new kitten (only been two months since Mannie died. I still get upset when talking about him) I had been looking online for a few days. I knew I wanted an all white cat, but I also knew that was hard to find. Two weeks ago I saw in Animal Care and Protective Services at Jacksonville’s adoption list – two white male kittens. They were around 2-3 months old. I was in no hurry for three reasons. 1) I was still hung up on Mannie (still am slightly) 2) My mother has a Chow Chow/ Husky mix that is kinda aggressive towards cats (she adjusts eventually) and 3) I was still at my father’s house for the first half of the summer. The two were gone by the time I was ready to adopt.
Monday, I decided I was going to look through the “Lost and Found” section of the site and I found this white cat named Peter Pan. I didn’t think he would be available for adoption for another week or two, but yesterday I looked and he was added to the “Adoption” roster. I told my mother and she was bent on taking me to the shelter. When I got there and saw him, it was like meeting Mannie all over again. He was curled up in a ball, asleep when I got to his cage, and too far back for me to poke him like I did Mannie. I caught his attention and he made the silly squeak Mannie did 4 years ago at the same shelter. He decided he was going to get up so I could pet him. My mother and I took him into a small room and let him roam around. Almost immediately he climbed into my lap and laid there. Just to be fair I put him back in the cage and looked at another cat, but I knew my mind was set on Peter Pan.
The whole adoption process took about 20 minutes. I nearly started crying when they asked about Mannie (Victor on paper). I went to get him when a volunteer showed up and said she would like to clean his ears before I took him home. Apparently he had ear mites when they picked him up, and is still recovering from them. On the way home, my mother made a comment that he’s not very “Peter-ish” (no idea what she meant by that) and we were going to try and decide what to call him. I was starving by the time we got home. I had gotten up at 8AM and hadn’t eaten since 9PM last night (got home around 1PM-ish). I made some pasta and put feta cheese in it. Well…let’s just say, Peter Pan enjoyed the feta cheese a lot, and my mother said he looks like feta cheese, so we decided that’s what we’ll call him. :-) He’s a sweet kitten, very “I want to cuddle” all the time. He’s an extreme player too…
so…here he is:

Wow…went a whole week without posting something. Umm…bought two Linux magazines (“Linux User and Developer” and “Linux and Open Source Genius Guide”). They both came with CDs that had distros on them…
Image here Don’t worry…just a link to my photobucket. The image is too large to post here as it was taken from my phone.

Very short post for now. Off to dinner with the neighbours.
